A Clinical Trial of Trimebutine Maleate in the Cascade Stomach


Abstract
The purpose on this paper is to assess the clinical effectiveness of trimebutine(polybutine) in Koreans with cascade stomach who are complaining of epigastric distress with indigestion, belching, epigastric fullness, meteorism.
We gave the patients one tablet(100mg) of trimebutine maleate orally before each meal three times a day for three weeks to patients who are diagnosed as pure form of cascade stomach.
The response rate of the drug was assessed by the subjective decison in three different arbitary levels : well response (50-100%), partial response(5O%), minimal response(25%), No response (0%) were scored as effective.
1. Among 20 patients of cascade stomach with epigastric distress and indigestion, belching, epigastric fullness, nausea, and meteorism, 92.0% was responsed totally to this medication.
2. The five symptoms of cascade stomach were improved in epigastric distress and indigestion (100%), belching (100%), eplgastric fullness (90.0%), nausea (85.0%) , meteorism (85.0%)
3. The degree of the response to this medication are as follows : well response(WR) 37%, partial respunse(PR) 39%, minimal response (MR) 16%, no response(NR) 8%.
4. There were no definite side actions during the treatment in-cascade complaints.
